Efficiently BMW

Efficiently BMW

While financial woes threaten to drag U.S automakers to their plausible demise, BMW continues to weather the financial storms. What exactly is BMW doing that the American automakers aren’t? That answer is simple, BMW is innovating while remaining environmentally conscious.

The German automaker understands that consumers not only want powerful cars, but powerful cars that are energy efficient.
In 2008 BMW was declared World Green car of the year for the BMW 118d with Efficient Dynamics. Since its inception in 2003, the World Car awards have become one of the most prestigious and credible awards of its kind. The awards were designed to not only reward global automotive excellence, but to also recognize the reality of the global auto industry. The award recognized that BMW was able to reduce fuel consumption, significantly more than other automakers, while at the same time improving performance. With its Efficient Dynamics innovation, BMW has proven that it can create sexy high-powerful driving machines that are energy efficient.

Efficient Dynamics is BMW’s internal challenge to reduce emissions of CO2 in its automobiles. In essence the challenge dictates that every generation of engines it produces must consume far less energy, while generating far more power than the previous ones. BMW, however, not only applies this theory to its vehicles, but also to the process that goes in building them.

We at Beyond Petro applaud this stance and will cover more detailed elements in upcoming series of featured posts we call “BMW Sustainability in Design”.
